Course Overview

The legendary and ultra-exclusive Royal Selangor Golf Club - New Course stands as a preeminent 18-hole parkland sanctuary situated directly within the glittering skyline of downtown Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Officially established in 1924 to expand the club’s grand golfing footprint alongside the original Old Course, this historic property spans a challenging 6,612 yards (6,046 meters) from the back championship markers. As the cradle of Malaysian golf, RSGC has welcomed heads of state, global royalty, and world-class champions throughout its storied past. Located just minutes away from the Petronas Twin Towers and major luxury hotel districts, it offers elite international golf travelers a highly prestigious and historically rich destination for a premium Kuala Lumpur golf holiday.

A Traditional Parkland Legacy with Modern Strategic Twists

Maintained to absolute championship standards, The Royal Selangor Golf Club - New Course features immaculate turf conditioning, utilizing premium Bermuda grass on the perfectly manicured, flat fairways and ultra-smooth, fast greens that demand exceptional touch. The defining architectural hallmark of the New Course is its grand collection of century-old, mature trees that flank every single fairway, forming tight natural corridors that penalize wayward tee shots.

Unlike newer, heavily sculpted resort courses, the New Course preserves a classic, traditional layout, relying on subtle terrain movements, tight angles, and carefully positioned sand traps rather than severe elevation changes. Recent course modernizations have introduced beautifully integrated water features, winding drainage canals, and small lakes that cut across fairways and protect landing zones. Golfers must prioritize strategic accuracy and smart ball placement off the tee, as well as high-precision iron play to reach the small, firmly guarded greens that are heavily defended by deep, classic grass depressions and bunkers.

Notable and Signature Hole Designs

The Royal Selangor Golf Club - New Course delivers an incredibly nostalgic and highly rewarding playing experience highlighted by its historic city framing and signature challenges:

• The Scenic Skyline Views: Multiple holes across the layout offer breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Kuala Lumpur financial center and skyscrapers, creating a dramatic contrast between lush green parkland and modern urban architecture.
• The Demanding Dogleg Challenges: Several long par-4 holes feature sharp doglegs guarded by heavy clusters of trees, requiring golfers to precisely shape their tee shots to set up a clean look at the green.
• The Precision-Based Par 3s: The short holes require nerves of steel, forcing direct carries over water canals or tight bunkers into small, sloping putting surfaces where par is always a great score.

Elite Royal Hospitality & Prestigious Clubhouse Tradition

The Royal Selangor Golf Club ensures unparalleled relaxation and premier hospitality, deeply keeping its five-star private club customs alive. Before stepping onto the first tee, players can perfect their game at the club's comprehensive covered driving range and dedicated short-game practice facilities. The golf journey is perfectly completed by the club’s grand, colonial-style heritage clubhouse, which features an array of historic dining rooms, lounges, and the famous Circular Bar serving local Malaysian classics and international fine dining.
