Built to championship standards while remaining accessible to all skill levels, the course features five tee boxes per hole, though the championship "Jack" tees are best left to professionals. The layout demands precision and shot-making finesse, with mature forests and rolling hillocks punishing erratic shots. True to Nicklaus's signature style, the back nine heavily penalizes a weak fade, threatening tired players with massive waste bunkers and water hazards guarding the right side of the fairways. However, straight hitters will find the course rewarding, as it does not rely on extreme length to challenge golfers.

Highlight Holes and the New Nine

The round begins with a gentle 389-yard par-4 that appears deceptively simple but features a well-protected, unforgiving green that demands strict accuracy. The day concludes at the signature par-5 18th hole, which challenges golfers with a final approach to a thrilling island green. Long hitters can attempt to reach the green in two by driving over the trees on this dogleg-left, but the final shot over water is longer than it appears and requires immense caution. For those seeking an even greater challenge, the club opened an additional nine holes (Course C) in 2005.
