Carved out of a 90-hectare hardwood rainforest along the Cikeas River, Riverside Golf Club is a challenging 18-hole, par-72 course located 30 kilometers from central Jakarta. Opened in 1994, it holds the distinction of being Greg Norman’s first design in Indonesia, utilizing the area's dramatic topography to create a fierce, highly competitive test of golf.

A True Test for Long Hitters

The course features rolling fairways that offer occasional open landing areas, but the routing frequently forces players to clear deep ravines, rivers, and natural streams. Most greens are heavily isolated and protected by towering walls of dense forest.

• Strategic Profile: The layout heavily favors long hitters but penalizes inaccuracy severely. Three of the four par-3 holes require long, high-stakes carries over water with zero margin for error. Furthermore, several par 4s and 5s feature sharp doglegs and completely blind greens, making bogeys a highly respectable score on multiple holes.

• Key Holes:

  • 5th Hole (Par 4): A dramatic downhill layout demanding an exceptionally accurate approach shot to find a green completely encircled by water.

  • 7th Hole (Par 5): A punishing double dogleg through the jungle requiring two perfectly placed consecutive shots just to get a view of the green for the third.

  • 14th Hole (Par 3): The signature hole of the course, requiring a breathtaking, full-carry shot over a massive ravine.

Clubhouse & Practice Facilities

Player Advice: While the course is exceptional, the practice putting green and chipping areas are currently in poor condition and are best avoided until repaired.

• Amenities: The clubhouse—though showing its age—is ideally positioned overlooking the 18th green. It features an open-air restaurant nestled among mature trees, alongside a pro shop, locker rooms, and a grass driving range.

• The Verdict: Riverside is a premier example of Norman's rugged design philosophy. It is best suited for low-handicap and top-ranked golfers looking to truly test the limits of their game.
