18 holes par 72 (6340 yards)
Conveniently located near Batam's city center, Padang Golf Sukajadi is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course. Originally conceived by the renowned design firm Thomson, Wolveridge & Perrett in the late 1980s, economic delays pushed its official opening to 2009 under local redevelopment. The highly regarded track quickly earned accolades, hosting major national amateur championships and being rated Batam's second-best course by Golf Digest Singapore.
Measuring 6,340 meters with four sets of tees, the course accommodates all skill levels on a relatively flat, parkland-style landscape enhanced by strategic mounding and gentle undulations.
The Turf: Blanketed wall-to-wall in vibrant Seashore Paspalum grass, the course maintains a bright green aesthetic year-round, though players may notice local Zoysia and Bermuda grass invading some areas.
The Elements: Water hazards play a prominent role throughout the routing. While fairways can become soggy during the wet season, an excellent drainage system allows for quick recovery after heavy tropical downpours. The greens are a standout feature—consistently smooth, fast, and uniform.
Sukajadi rewards disciplined course management over blind power, forcing players to think twice before pulling out a driver:
1st Hole (Par 4): A daunting opener requiring a straight drive to avoid water hazards flanking both sides, compounded by a large fairway-encroaching tree that long hitters must carry.
3rd Hole (Par 5): A deceptive hole with a tight fairway bounded by out-of-bounds stakes and sand traps. The approach must be precise to avoid the water guarding the back and right of the green.
5th Hole (Par 4): A short but hazardous layout split by a running stream and flanked by water, requiring a calculated layup off the tee.
10th Hole (Par 4): A long 384-meter test demanding a precise drive through a tree-lined corridor, followed by an approach shot that must clear a fronting stream.
15th Hole (Par 4): The number-one handicap hole. Stretching over 400 meters, a successful drive leaves golfers with a high-stakes decision: fly the large lake protecting the green or play it safe and lay up.
Traveler Convenience: Padang Golf Sukajadi operates as a semi-private club, meaning the public can easily book weekday tee times.
Resort Integration: The course is part of the adjacent Radisson Golf & Convention Center complex, making it an ideal, hassle-free destination for international travelers.
Amenities: Golfers enjoy top-tier clubhouse facilities, excellent caddie service, and full-service spa treatments integrated directly into the locker rooms.
